Shirley teaches yoga with a strong Iyengar influence having studied with iyengar teachers i.e.: Rodney Yee, Patricia Walden and Manuso. Iyengar introduced the props to yoga and there is a strong emphasis on body alignment in the asanas. This not only leads to better everyday posture and body awareness but also causes one to move inward. |

She has practiced yoga since 1973. Her 25 years of experience as an RN with the majority of time spent in surgery gives her a broad knowledge of anatomy and physiology as well as an understanding of different health problems and diagnoses. She was certified to teach yoga in Texas and left nursing in 1997 to teach yoga. Shirley has a strong belief that people need to take responsibility for their own health and she believes yoga helps not only physically, but mentally and emotionally. She teaches 9-10 classes per week and studies yearly with Rodney Yee. Yoga has, and continues to be, her main insturment for self discovery and dealing with life. |
